Welcome to Durham Art Gallery

The Durham Art Gallery is County Durham's largest modern and contemporary art gallery.

January to July 2010 sees an exciting and diverse line up of artists, exhibitions, events and related workshops all taking place at the gallery.

Continuing our mission to support artists working in the region we present a new exhibition by Jennifer Douglas. This fascinating and intriguing exhibition brings to the gallery a sense of playful, but also demanding, investigation of 'matter,' through her creation of intricate worlds of fantasy which will test your individual understanding.

Not to be missed is Paul Rooney's new work, specially commissioned by Durham Art Gallery. Rooney is fast becoming one of the country's most recognised artists with a series of critically acclaimed exhibitions over the past couple of years and winner of the Northern Art Prize in 2008.

Finally, don't miss your opportunity to support the Bureau of Silly Ideas and their campaign for custard pie throwing to be part of the 2012 Olympics - lots of fun guaranteed and for mini artists, don't miss our new monthly art sessions for 1-4 year olds.
