Welcome to Durham Art Gallery

The Durham Art Gallery is County Durham's largest modern and contemporary art gallery.

From July to October we have a great variety of exhibitions, workshops and events taking place for you and the whole family to get involved in.

The exhibitions over the summer holidays are a celebration of illustation and the diverse ways artists are exploring this visual practice. 'What Are You Like?' sees a host of famous names creating self-revealing portraits that give an insight into their lives and personalities. Exhibiting alongside this is 'Set of Drawers' a fun-loving and talented group of North East based illustrators who are showing a collection of their works and a personal response to the question 'What Are You Like?'

We are also very pleased to present 'Now Showing 2.' This is a miniature season of new film and video art from the Arts Council Collection which showcases the work of six prominent UK artists working in this field. Accompanying this is a series of photographic prints and video by Newcastle based artist Neil Armstrong. These exhibitions offer an impressive insight into some of the current practices of contemporary artists.

Vist our exhibitions page to see details on up and coming exhibitions and for a full list of events download our current What's On Brochure.

We look forward to seeing you soon at the Durham Art Gallery.
