Collections
The Durham Light Infantry Museum has a superb collection of uniforms, equipment, weapons, silver, photographs and battlefield relics covering the whole history of the Regiment from its formation in 1758 to the final laying-up of the Colours in 1968 in Durham Cathedral.
Many key objects from this famous collection can now be seen on-line here for the first time as part of the museum’s Collection pages. This on-line exhibition not only includes objects on display in the museum but also many objects that are currently not on show, including rare uniforms of the Durham Militia and Rifle Volunteers.
The DLI Museum also has an outstanding Medal Room with eight, original Victoria Crosses on show, plus over 3,000 other medals awarded to over 1,000 men who served in one of the finest County Regiments - The Durham Light Infantry. Details of these men, including many photographs, and their medals can be seen on-line here as part of the museum’s Collection pages.
